It’s difficult to figure out what exactly Donald Trump is up to. Claims that tariffs are being levied because of drug smuggling and immigration seem far fetched given the numbers. He has said on multiple occasions that he wants Canada to become the 51st state. I mean we do have a tonne of oil, a lot of fresh water and rare earth minerals needed to make all sorts of things. It seems pretty likely that ol Don would like to get his hands on our assets.

The thing is, other than a few misfits, I don’t think most Canadians want anything to do with becoming American. We like Americans. We like to visit and be visited. We watch American TV and movies but fundamentally Canadians are quite different.
