The Gadsden flag was introduced during the war of independence as a symbol of American resistance to British rule. Over the years it has been and still is used in various capacities. Typically it gets hauled out when one party feels that they are being unjustly targeted by government. I think it is so fitting that as the government of the United States targets Canada’s sovereignty with tariffs and rhetoric around becoming the 51st state that the Gadsden flag gets a remake. As America acts as the British in this situation and Canada as the underdog Americans the irony is too good to pass up.
