Freediving diving is a method of underwater diving that does not require the help of a breathing apparatus. Instead of using an air tank, you simply hold your breath. To the purist, this is the most real way to explore under water. Not only that but it’s a hell of a lot less expensive too! The current record set in 2021 is a depth of 429′ or 131 M. That is absolutely crazy! By contrast, with your PADI Advanced Open Water certificate you are allowed to go down to a depth of 100′ or 30 M. The big difference being that since you’re holding your breath with freediving you don’t need to worry about decompression.
